It reacts with the hydroxyl groups of polymers, yielding cross-linked silicone materials with high yield and good thermal stability. The platinum atom can be generated in situ from chloroplatinic acid and cyclohexene. Platinumcarbonylcyclovinylmethylsiloxane complex can also be used for the synthesis of other platinum-containing compounds, such as palladium carbonylcyclovinylmethylsiloxane complexes. Platinumcarbonylcyclovinylmethylsiloxane complex is used in devices that are exposed to high temperatures or corrosive environments, such as catalytic converters.
