Descrizione:Palmitic anhydride is a crystalline solid that has a phase transition temperature of -5.5°C. It is reactive and can be used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polymers. Palmitic anhydride is also used to produce monoclonal antibodies by linking the antibody to a carrier protein, such as keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH). KLH forms stable complexes with palmitic anhydride, which are then reacted with magnetic particles coated with fatty esters. The resulting complex can be used for detection of specific antigens in human serum or other biological samples by immunological methods. Palmitic anhydride also reacts with fatty acids to form esters that are soluble in lipids and oils, which makes them suitable for use as chemical intermediates in the production of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds.
