• Descrizione: Piperidine-4-sulfonic acid (PIPA) is an antagonist of the GABA receptor. It has a low potency and is selective for the GABA receptor. PIPA is a potent antagonist of intracellular Ca2+ levels, with a low affinity for benzodiazepine binding sites. This drug also causes membrane hyperpolarization in granule neurons and α1 subunit activation. PIPA has been shown to have clinical relevance as a specific agonist for the GABA receptor in tissue culture studies. The uptake of this drug has been shown to be rapid, consistent with its high lipophilicity.
