Phorate sulfone is a phorate analog and growth regulator. It has been reported as an analytical method for detecting the presence of phorate in test samples, including plants, and validation of the analytical method. The analytical method involves using carbon sources to extract phorate sulfone from a sample. The extraction is accomplished by using chromatographic methods or matrix effects. Solid phase microextraction is one of the methods used to extract the compound from the sample matrix. Sample preparation includes solid-phase microextraction that uses dispersive solid-phase extraction or carbofuran to extract the compound from the sample matrix. Microbial metabolism may also be necessary for degradation of phorate sulfone, which can occur both aerobically and anaerobically.
