• Descrizione: Purvalanol A is a chemotherapeutic drug that inhibits the survivin protein. This protein is an important regulator of cellular apoptosis and has been shown to be overexpressed in many cancers, including melanoma, ovarian cancer and breast cancer. Purvalanol A has significant cytotoxic activity against cells with high survivin expression. Purvalanol A also blocks the ABCG2 transporter, which transports drugs across the cell membrane, and prevents transcriptional regulation by taxol. Purvalanol A induces pluripotent cells to differentiate into neural cells and may be useful for treating Parkinson's disease as well as carcinomas.
