Descrizione

Pepstatin A is a natural product that inhibits the activity of aspartyl proteases. It has inhibitory effects on the mitochondrial membrane potential and can be used to study the protein-protein interactions involved in signal transduction. Pepstatin A also interacts with other drugs and can inhibit their action, which may lead to drug interactions. Moreover, it is a potent inducer of platelet aggregation and has been shown to be effective in experimental models of inflammation. Pepstatin A is found in many biological samples, such as human plasma and rat liver extracts, and wild-type strains are resistant to its inhibitory effects.
