Polyvinylpyrrolidone-K30 is a polymer that is stable in the presence of acids, bases, and many other chemical reagents. It has been shown to form complexes with proteins, nucleic acids, and metals. Polyvinylpyrrolidone-K30 has potential as a biomarker for diagnosing diseases such as cancer. This polymer can be used for surface methodology by adsorbing proteins on its surface. The mechanism of the reaction is not yet known but it may involve steric interactions or transfer reactions. Polyvinylpyrrolidone-K30 has been used in clinical trials as an implantable material for repairing damaged tissue or bone. It is also used in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to measure ion permeability through membranes by applying an alternating current across the membrane and measuring the resulting voltage change due to ion flow.
