This chemical has been shown to reversibly inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis in a number of cell lines, including breast, prostate, and lymphoma. 2-Pyrazine ethanethiol also inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by modulating genes involved in cell cycle progression. The analogs of this compound are being synthesized through coordination chemistry.
