Perfluoroheptane is a chemical that is used in the production of other substances. It has a boiling point of -34 degrees Celsius and is chemically stable, making it suitable for use in cold environments. Perfluoroheptane can be released into the atmosphere by burning carbon disulphide or by decomposition of methyl ethyl. The human serum transport properties of perfluoroheptane have been investigated and shown to be similar to those of trifluoroacetic acid. When heated, perfluoroheptane undergoes an unfavorable expansion in volume, which may be due to its hydrogen bonding activity with fatty acids. Perfluoroheptane has been used as a growth factor or as an analytical method for determining the concentration of other substances.
