• Descrizione: Policresulen is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of antimicrobial agents. It is used as an antiseptic and disinfectant in the treatment of infectious diseases. Policresulen is able to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses by disrupting their cell membranes. It has been shown to be effective against HIV infection, bowel disease, and autoimmune diseases. The mechanism of action of policresulen may be through its ability to inhibit inflammatory lesion formation by inhibiting water vapor loss from cells. This drug also inhibits fatty acid synthesis and reduces symptoms associated with inflammation or irritation (e.g., redness, itching). Benzalkonium chloride is often added as a preservative for policresulen solutions.
