4-Pyridineacrylic acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of aldehydes. It is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, and acetone. 4-Pyridineacrylic acid is used as a raw material for industrial purposes. This molecule has been shown to be useful in the production of hydrogen bonds, catalysis, and organometallic compounds. 4-Pyridineacrylic acid also has an important function in cell membranes by acting as a spacer between lipid molecules. Filtration experiments have shown that 4-pyridineacrylic acid can be used for the separation of substances with different molecular sizes.
