Descrizione:(2R,4R)-(-)-2,4-Pentanediol is a diol that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It is an effective antibacterial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The mechanism of action for this inhibitory effect is not yet known. This compound also shows antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals in the body. (2R,4R)-(-)-2,4-Pentanediol has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on diphosphine desulfurization reactions and intramolecular hydrogen transfer reactions. It can also act as a co-catalyst with dimethyl fumarate in the oxidative desulfurization of propane.
