Praeruptorin E is a coumarin derivative that has shown to have selective cytotoxic effects on human tumor cells. Praeruptorin E can be used as a preventive measure against HIV infection by blocking HIV-1 protease and preventing the release of infectious virus particles. It also has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and reduce cervical cancer growth rates in mice. Praeruptorin E is extracted from peucedanum root, a Chinese herb that has been used traditionally for its anti-inflammatory properties.
