N-Phenylsuccinimide is a chemical compound with the formula CH(COCH). It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents. N-Phenylsuccinimide has been used as an efficient method for the synthesis of quinolizidine alkaloids; it has also been used to convert nitro and chloro groups into a variety of functional groups, such as amides and ureas. This compound can be used to synthesize beta-amyloid peptides from the amino acid sequence of bovine serum albumin. The structure of the final product has been confirmed by NMR spectra and mass spectrometry. The final product was obtained by using trifluoromethanesulfonic acid as an acid catalyst and chloride as a base to form the amide from two molecules of beta-amyloid peptide.
