Descrizione

Resiquimod is a synthetic imidazoquinoline that has potent immunological activities, including induction of cytokines and chemokines. It is capable of activating the immune system by binding to toll-like receptor 7 (TLR-7) and TLR8, which are receptors expressed on dendritic cells, macrophages and other antigen-presenting cells. Resiquimod can also activate the immune system by activating cell factor, a protein found in white blood cells that plays an important role in the activation of T lymphocytes. In vitro assays have shown that resiquimod has strong antiviral properties against HIV-1 and HIV-2, as well as anti-cancer properties against skin cancer. Resiquimod’s ability to induce cytokines and chemokines makes it a good candidate for treating autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis.
