Descrizione

Retusin is a flavonoid that has been isolated from chickpea and cicer arietinum. It is found in the form of glycosides, such as retusin tlc, and can be extracted by organic solvents. Retusin tlc has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against microflora and inhibits the growth of Helicobacter pylori, which is responsible for gastric ulcers. Retusin tlc may also inhibit the growth of other pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes and Escherichia coli. The compound has also been shown to have antioxidant properties.
