Descrizione

Schizantherin B is a natural compound that has been shown to inhibit the activities of multiple drug transporters in vitro and in vivo. It binds to the enzyme ATP-binding cassette transporter A1, which is involved in transporting drugs from blood into cells. The binding of Schizantherin B to this transporter prevents it from functioning, leading to neuronal death. This compound also inhibits the activities of other drug transporters such as P-glycoprotein, multidrug resistance-associated protein 1, and breast cancer resistance protein. Schizantherin B shows potential for use as an anti-cancer agent because of its ability to induce skin cancer cell death and inhibit tumor growth. This compound also has antioxidant properties due to its hydroxyl group, which may contribute to its chemopreventive activity against skin cancers.
