Descrizione:Sodium C12-C14 alcohol sulfate (SAS) is a water soluble, hydrophobic, aliphatic hydrocarbon and surfactant. It is used as a regulatory treatment for wastewater and as a biological treatment for the removal of sulfate from wastewater. SAS also has trophic properties. When applied to animals, it can be metabolized to form fatty acids that are important for maintaining cell membrane integrity. The chemical is non-toxic to invertebrates and algae in mesocosm studies with neutralized SAS treatments.
