Descrizione:Sphingosine is a naturally occurring molecule that has been shown to have antifungal activity in vitro. It also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities, which may be due to the inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-α and prostaglandin synthesis. Sphingosine is a natural product found in many tissues and fluids, including blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, and synovial fluid. It is synthesized from sphinganine by the enzyme sphingosine kinase. Sphingosine has been shown to be an intracellular target for some viruses such as HIV-1 and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This drug binds to receptors on cells and inhibits viral life cycles by interfering with the synthesis of viral proteins. The optimum concentration for this drug is unknown but it has been shown to inhibit calcium flux in cytosolic calcium stores.
