Descrizione

Spirobiindane is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has a hydroxyl group at the 3-position. It is used as a monomer in the fabrication of polycarbonates and coatings. Spirobiindane can be synthesized by Friedel-Crafts reaction with chloride or acid catalyst, followed by hydrogenation. The activation energy for this reaction is 11 kcal/mol. This product also has transport properties, which are important for its use in optoelectronics and polycarbonates.
