Sulfachlorpyridazine is a monoclonal antibody that binds to sulfa drugs, which are toxic antibiotics. It is used in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria. The drug has been shown to be highly resistant to environmental degradation and can persist for long periods in the environment, posing an ecological hazard. Sulfachlorpyridazine has been shown to reduce choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in pre-clinical models of age-related macular degeneration. This effect may be due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis and inflammation by inhibiting TNF-α and IL-1β production.
