PPH and ED activate sodium nitroguaiacolate and sodium 5-nitroguaiacolate to produce nitric oxide, which helps regulate the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the tomato plant's leaves. Sodium 5-Nitroguaiacolate has been shown to increase photosynthetic activity, nutrient uptake, and protein transport in plants.
