Descrizione

Spiraeoside is a natural compound that has inhibitory properties against radiation. It is extracted from the roots of the plant Spiraea japonica and has significant cytotoxicity against human squamous carcinoma cells. It also inhibits the function of the drug-metabolizing enzyme P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in vitro and in vivo, as well as inhibiting the activity of GSH-px. Spiraeoside has shown genotoxic activity via single strand breaks in calf thymus DNA, and also has analytical methods for its detection.
