Descrizione

(-)-Secoisolariciresinol is a polyphenolic compound that belongs to the group of secoisolariciresinol. It has been shown to have a beneficial effect on bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and radiation-induced enteritis. (-)-Secoisolariciresinol also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and certain enzymes (e.g., alcohol dehydrogenase) in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. In addition, (-)-secoisolariciresinol has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in mice with diabetes mellitus. It also has antioxidant properties and provides protection against oxidative injury induced by radiation in rats.
