Scopolin is a coumarin derivative that inhibits the activity of p-glycoprotein (p-gp) and other multidrug resistance proteins. Scopolin has shown anti-inflammatory activity in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. The natural compound also shows antifungal properties against human pathogenic fungi. Scopolin has been found to be effective in controlling plant diseases caused by these fungi and is used as an analytical method for detecting coumarin derivatives.
