2,3,5,6-Tetrafluorophenylhydrazine is an isomeric form of hydrazine. This compound has been redesigned to include a fluorophore and the addition of a tetradentate group that can coordinate with metal ions. 2,3,5,6-Tetrafluorophenylhydrazine's fluorescence emission spectrum has been shown to be enhanced when it interacts with metal cations. The nucleophilic character of this compound makes it a good candidate for forming ternary complexes with metal ions and thiolates. The formation of such complexes has been demonstrated in the past by 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenylhydrazine and other phenylhydrazines.
