Descrizione:Allatostatin is a type of allatotropin. Allatotropins are a family of neuropeptides that inhibit the release of other hormones, such as vitellogenin, which is a hormone that stimulates vitellogenesis in insect ovaries. Allatostatin inhibits the release of vitellogenin by binding to the receptor on the egg follicle cells and blocking its action. This drug has been shown to be effective at inhibiting mevalonate production in rat ganglia and is also found in high concentrations in holometabolous insects. It is synthesized from an amide precursor by a series of enzymatic reactions and can be desorbed from its storage site with mild acidification.
