• Descrizione: Telmisartan is a drug that belongs to the angiotensin II receptor antagonist class. Telmisartan is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It blocks the action of angiotensin II, which prevents the constriction of blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Telmisartan has been shown to reduce atherosclerotic lesion size in two-way crossover studies in rats with hypertension induced by high salt intake. Telmisartan also has antihypertensive and cardioprotective effects as well as dna binding activity, which may be important for its therapeutic effect on cardiovascular disorders. Telmisartan has not been found to have significant drug interactions with other medications and does not affect the metabolism of other drugs in the body. This drug should not be taken together with certain medications such as antifungal agents, erythromycin, or clarithromycin due to an increased risk of serious adverse effects on the kidneys or liver.
