Descrizione:2,2,4-Trimethylpentane (TMP) is a hydrofluorocarbon that is used in the production of polymers and plastics. TMP has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacterial strains by reacting with hydrogen fluoride to form a fluorinated compound. The thermal expansion coefficient of TMP has been measured for various temperatures using a calorimeter. The rate constant for the reaction between methyl ethyl ketone and TMP at 25°C was determined using a kinetic study. The solubility data for TMP in water at different pH values were obtained from experiments conducted at room temperature. Fluorescence measurements were taken on solutions containing TMP and sodium salts, which showed an increase in fluorescence intensity with increasing concentration of TMP.
