Descrizione:Torcetrapib is a drug that inhibits the enzyme DPP-IV, which is responsible for the degradation of a protein called DPP-4. Torcetrapib has been shown to improve atherosclerotic lesions in humans and mice by inhibiting DPP-IV, which prevents the destruction of DPP-4. It also increases levels of a protein called IL-2 receptor, which is involved in immune response and inhibition of tumour growth. Torcetrapib has not been shown to be carcinogenic or mutagenic in animal models. Torcetrapib binds to the cytosolic Ca2+ channel and reduces the activity of this channel, inhibiting cellular proliferation and reducing cholesterol levels in cells. Torcetrapib also has low potency against proteins such as IL-2 receptor and cytosolic Ca2+.
