Descrizione:1,2-Dimethyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine is a primary amine that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It can be synthesized through the reaction of 1-methylimidazole and carbon monoxide at high temperature. This can be done using microwaves or with heat from an oven. The yield is high and the reactivity is good for this compound. It is also reactive with chlorides and cyclic compounds. The solubility of 1,2-dimethyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine in water is low but it reacts readily with betaines to form soluble products. Diffraction data for this compound have been taken at a wavelength of 0.734 nm and show a single crystal structure with a unit cell parameter of a = 10.9 Å and b = 12.0 Å
