Tasosartan inhibits the action of an enzyme called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the body, which leads to reduced levels of the hormone angiotensin II. This lowers blood pressure by reducing the amount of sodium and water in the body, which decreases blood volume. Tasosartan has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as Helicobacter pylori, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Chlamydia pneumoniae infections. The drug also has anti-inflammatory effects because it blocks inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNFα production.
