Descrizione:1-Tridecanol is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that belongs to the group of short-chain fatty acids. It is obtained by hydrogenation of oleic acid and has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria through its inhibition of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) synthesis. 1-Tridecanol can be used in the production of detergent compositions, which are antimicrobial agents with broad spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 1-Tridecanol is also an intermediate in the synthesis of picolinic acid, which is a potent antibiotic. This compound has a leaf structure that resembles that found in plants such as spinach and contains carboxyl groups that give it an acidic character.
