Descrizione:4,5,6,7-Tetrabromophenolphthalein is a fluorescent molecule that binds to and is taken up by human liver cells. It enters the cell via the electroneutral sodium-potassium pump. 4,5,6,7-Tetrabromophenolphthalein does not accumulate in fatty tissues because it is unable to cross the blood-brain barrier or enter adipose tissue. This drug has been used to study hepatocytic uptake of lipid and cholesterol by measuring its accumulation in cytosolic proteins after injection into the hepatic artery.
