Descrizione:(+)-Tramadol is an opioid analgesic that binds to the μ-opioid receptor and inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, which are neurotransmitters. The drug also has a painkilling effect by inhibiting the release of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Tramadol has been shown to be effective in human diabetic neuropathy, as well as in animal models of inflammatory and neuropathic pain. Tramadol is metabolized extensively by the liver enzyme CYP2D6 and is excreted primarily through the kidneys. The drug has a half-life of about 6 hours in humans but can be increased to 12 hours in patients with renal impairment. Other side effects include cutaneous lesions, drug interactions, and air entrainment.
