• Descrizione: Terpinen-4-ol is a naturally occurring chemical compound that has been shown to have antibacterial effects against oral pathogens. It binds to penicillin-binding protein (PBP) and blocks the PBP's ability to bind to bacterial cell wall synthesis, inhibiting cell growth and leading to cell death. Terpinen-4-ol has also been shown to suppress HIV replication in vitro and in vivo. This chemical compound is a potential drug candidate for the treatment of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis or leprosy, as well as AIDS. Terpinen-4-ol has also been shown to inhibit bcl2 protein in HL60 cells, which may be due to its binding with the bcl2 protein on the surface of these cells.
