Descrizione:Methyl tolyl methylcarbamate (MTMC) is a pesticide that belongs to the group of carbamates. It is used as an insecticide and acaricide. MTMC can kill insects and ticks by inhibiting the activity of acetylcholinesterase, which leads to accumulation of acetylcholine at synapses and neuromuscular junctions. MTMC has been shown to cause genotoxic effects in yeast cells when exposed for short periods of time, but not in mammalian cells. This may be due to the synergic effect between MTMC and sodium carbonate, which is used as a stabilizer in some formulations. The detection sensitivity for MTMC was found to be 0.3 ppm using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on anhydrous sodium electrodes.
