This chemical reaction can be catalyzed by a redox potential of less than -200 mV. The rate of reaction is dependent on the concentration of the reactants and their relative concentrations. Trichloroisocyanuric acid has been shown to have some efficacy against resistant mutants to chlorination, although it has been shown to be ineffective against mycobacteria.
