Diallyl trisulfide is a divalent sulfur-containing molecule. It has been shown to inhibit the polymerization of 1,3,5-trithiane in analytical chemistry. Diallyl trisulfide has also been shown to have pesticidal activity against insects and bacteria. The effector proteins of the site-specific effectors are often hydrophobic and contain a carbonyl group. This may be due to their ability to bind with the surface of the cell membrane and interfere with its function.
A laser ablation study found that there was an inhibitory effect on growth factor receptors and constant erythrocyte sedimentation rate when diallyl trisulfide was present in the solution.
