Descrizione

Tetrabutylthiuram disulfide is a functional group that consists of four butyl groups and one sulfur atom. The compound is a viscous yellow liquid with an unpleasant, acrid odor. Tetrabutylthiuram disulfide is used as an antimicrobial agent in organic solvents, such as paints, coatings, and adhesives. This substance reacts with the hydroxyl group of a surface to form hydrogen sulfide gas and thiosulfate ions. Tetrabutylthiuram disulfide can be used to remove calcium carbonate from copper surfaces by forming complexes with the metal ion and removing it through polymerization. This product has been shown to have antioxidant properties due to its ability to inhibit oxidation of other molecules by scavenging free radicals or donating electrons.
