Descrizione:Tris(8-hydroxyquinolato)gallium (III) is a coordination complex with the formula [Ga(OH)(8HOQ)]. It is a soft, water-soluble solid. Tris(8-hydroxyquinolato)gallium (III) has been shown to bind to DNA in the form of an 8-hydroxyquinoline moiety and regulate transcriptional activation. The metal ion is coordinated by three oxygen atoms from the hydroxyl groups and one from the carboxyl group of the 8-hydroxyquinoline ligand. In addition, it has been shown that tris(8-hydroxyquinolato)gallium (III) has a response element in its promoter region that responds to iron homeostasis. Tris(8-hydroxyquinolato)gallium (III), when bound to DNA, may also affect x-ray diffraction data because of its high atomic number.
