Trimethyl orthoacetate is a reactive chemical compound that reacts with alkanoic acids to produce esters. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and has a pleasant odor. Trimethyl orthoacetate can be used in the synthesis of esters, which are important intermediates in the development of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The reaction mechanism of trimethyl orthoacetate has been studied by means of matrix effect and kinetic energy analysis, showing that it is an exothermic reaction.
