Descrizione:2,4,6-Trifluorophenylacetic acid is a fluorinated phenylacetic acid that has been shown to inhibit the growth of the fungus Botrytis cinerea. It does this by disrupting the conformation of microtubules and inhibiting cell division. This compound has been synthesized in analogy with other known phenylacetic acids and its structure was confirmed through single-crystal x-ray diffraction studies. The heteroaryl groups on 2,4,6-Trifluorophenylacetic acid disrupt the microtubule polymerization process by binding to tubulin subunits. The fluorine atom also binds to the pyridine ring in this molecule to form an electron-deficient heterocycle.
