(Trifluoromethoxy)benzene is a colorless liquid that has a boiling point of 97.1°C and a flashpoint of 23°C. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon with the molecular formula C6H3(OCH2CF3) and a molecular weight of 132.2 g/mol. The compound belongs to group P2, it's soluble in water, and can be prepared by reacting trifluoroacetic acid with methyl pentanoate. (Trifluoromethoxy)benzene has antimicrobial properties, but it also causes autoimmune diseases in animals. It is used as an industrial solvent and as a reagent for the preparation of other chemicals.
