Descrizione

Tectochrysin is a natural compound that has shown potential anti-cancer activity in vitro. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to the recombinant cytochrome p450 enzyme, leading to an increase in apoptotic cell death. Tectochrysin also inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. Tectochrysin binds to DNA and RNA via the caffeic acid moiety, which interacts with nucleobases and ribose sugars. This binding prevents transcription, replication, or translation of genetic material. Tectochrysin also has been shown to inhibit gsh-px activities and intracellular calcium levels, as well as induce apoptosis through a pathway involving caspase-3 and PARP cleavage.
