Descrizione

2,4,6-Trimethylpropiophenone is the reaction product of a fatty acid and hydrogen chloride. It is used as a precursor for vitamin D3 and as an intermediate for the synthesis of nitro compounds. 2,4,6-Trimethylpropiophenone is also used in the production of vitamin D3 analogs. This chemical has been shown to increase blood pressure by causing vasoconstriction, which may be due to its ability to modulate calcium channels and inhibit potassium channels. 2,4,6-Trimethylpropiophenone also decreases coronary vascular resistance and myocardial oxygen consumption by inhibiting fatty acid oxidation and increasing the release of nitric oxide from endothelial cells.
