Tris(4-methylphenyl)phosphine oxide is a ligand that reacts with polyethylene terephthalate. It has been shown to be reactive in the presence of diphenyl ether, which enhances its luminescence properties. The phosphine group on tris(4-methylphenyl)phosphine oxide interacts with water molecules and anions, which increases its reactivity.
