Tetraethylammonium fluoride hydrate is a fluorinated organic compound with the chemical formula (CH3)4N+F−OH. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in water, but not in organic solvents. Tetraethylammonium fluoride hydrate reacts with hydrocarbons and ethers to yield corresponding tetrafluoroethylene derivatives. This compound also inhibits dpp-IV activity by binding to the enzyme's active site. Tetraethylammonium fluoride hydrate inhibits transfer reactions by forming hydrogen bonds and hydroxyl groups with nucleophilic sites on the receptor molecule. The reactive nature of this compound makes it useful for converting pyrimidine compounds into fatty acids and intramolecular hydrogen bonds between the nitrogen atom and carbon atoms in the chain.
