It can be used as a light emitter and has an optical emission maximum at 466 nm. 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisilazane can be used as a sample preparation agent for functional groups such as amino groups and carboxylic acid groups. The molecule has an affinity for boron nitride (BN) and has been shown to have clinical data that suggests it may be useful in treating cancer.
