It has been shown to have antitubercular activity in vitro, and its effects are related to its ability to interfere with the synthesis of DNA. The chemical synthesis of this compound has been shown to produce a number of different polymorphs. 2-(2-Thienyl)benzothiazole is also fluorescent, which makes it useful for photophysical studies.
